Option 1: Create a Paper Template for Your Custom Cushion
The most accurate way to measure odd-shaped cushions is by creating a full-size paper template. This method captures curves, angles, and irregular dimensions that standard measuring cannot.

Supplies Needed for a Cushion Template
- Kraft paper, contractor paper, or taped paper sheets

Step-by-Step: How to Create a Cushion Template
Step 1: Cover the Seating Surface
Lay paper over the entire area where the custom cushion will sit. When necessary, tape sheets together so the surface is fully covered.
Step 2: Trace the Exact Shape

Mark the following directly on the paper:

Option 2: Send in Your Existing Cushion Cover
If you are replacing an old cushion, you may send in your existing cushion cover to be used as a soft template. This is a convenient way to capture the shape when ordering replacement custom cushions.
Note: Cushion fabrics with lots of usage can stretch over time affecting the actual shape of the cushion.
How to Submit an Existing Cushion Cover
- Take a picture of the existing cushion in the furniture or bench. This will be used for reference when working with the Custom Cushion Specialist.
- Remove the cushion insert (unless otherwise discussed).
- Ensure the cover is clean (free from dirt, mold and mildew) and clearly labeled.
- Include notes that would affect the overall outcome of the project.
- Ship the cushion cover to our team for pattern replication and measurement.
