Frequently Asked Questions

How does Sunbrella upholstery fabric perform in full sun and frequent rain?

Sunbrella upholstery fabric is built for outdoor conditions where strong sun, humidity, and routine cleaning are expected. As an outdoor upholstery fabric, it’s designed to stay color-stable in bright exposure and to handle damp or humid weather with normal drying and airflow. That balance makes it a reliable option for patios and porches that see changing weather.

What’s the simplest way to clean Sunbrella outdoor upholstery fabric for everyday outdoor messes?

For most messes, Sunbrella upholstery fabric stays low-maintenance with a simple routine: brush/vacuum regularly, blot spills quickly, clean with mild soap and water when needed, rinse well, and let it air-dry completely. This approach helps Sunbrella upholstery fabric keep its look over time without complicated upkeep. For more cleaning tips, see our Cleaning & Care Guide.

What is the right yardage amount when you buy Sunbrella outdoor upholstery fabric?

With Sunbrella upholstery fabric by the yard, the right yardage depends on your project measurements, seam allowances, and whether you need to match stripes or directional patterns. For yardage for outdoor cushions and similar seating projects, it’s common to add extra to cover pattern alignment. Refer to our custom cushions for specific measuring tips.

What is the Sunbrella upholstery fabric warranty, and what does it cover?

Sunbrella upholstery fabric has a 5-year limited warranty against fading and loss of strength from normal exposure to sunlight and weather when used as intended. Coverage can vary by Sunbrella collection. Refer to product-specific Sunbrella care and cleaning guidelines for warranty support.

Is Sunbrella upholstery fabric shipped as continuous yardage?

Yes! Sunbrella upholstery fabric is cut-to-order with continuous yardage whenever possible. Contact our customer service team if you have a larger patio furniture project needing large quantities of fabric.
